Transcript for Robert Redford Blames 'Business' for Oscar Snub
Oscar nominations came out this morning. Your name was not mentioned. -- what was your reaction. I only know their reaction. -- When we let them speak for me you know. -- Hollywood is what it is it's a business. And so when these films. Go before it to be voted on. Usually they're heavily dependent on campaigns that the distributors provide. There's a lot of campaign -- goes on and it get it can get very political but that's okay. Because it is business. In our case I think we suffered from. Did little to no distribution we had no campaign to help us crossover. Into the mainstream. So I suspect that has something to do with that I I don't feel it would it have been. Wonderful to be nominated of course. But I don't I'm not disturbed by her upset by it because of what I just said it is business and we couldn't conform -- that I was so happy to be able to do this film. Because it was independent. And it's still the chance of being of having a wider distribution has had they stepped up. So that's what's on my mind is the chance it gave me and I'm I'm really happy about it and I will stay happy about it. The rest is not my business so there's somebody else's does its compliance.
