Reporter: When andrew went swimming with friends on monday, he never imagined he would end up in a fight for his life. It took me a couple seconds to figure out it was a gator. Reporter: The 17-year-old was kicking his legs when he felt what he thought was a log. He took me under. And claws and body and stuff. And I tried to do whatever i could to get away. I didn't really want to die. Reporter: A nearly ten-foot-long alligator had latched on to the teen's neck. Its jaws around his head. He came up behind me and cla cla clamped. I couldn't see. Reporter: He fought until the giant gator miraculously let go. I got lucky there. And I got on land, bleeding everywhere. I took off my shorts and wrapped them around my head. Reporter: You can see hudson covered in blood, with his friend waving to a helicopter. While the teen now has 19 stitches in his back and 15 staples in his head, he says he's actually grateful that the gator attacked him and not his friend. I was glad it was me and not her because I was able toet away. Reporter: For "good morning america," john muller, abc news, new york.
