Transcript for Former Justice of Peace's Wife Confesses to D.A. Murders
development, an unexpected confession in the case of the murders of those district attorneys and one of their wives in kaufman county, texas. Abc's matt gutman has the very latest on this story. Matt, good morning. Reporter: Hey, good morning, amy. It was a story that took over national headlines. It was a murder history that was here for about two months. Now we're learning much more about this couple that allegedly murdered two prominent local officials in texas and now they admitted to what they've done. Texas police say 46-year-old kim williams gave them details not made public. Information only the killers would have known. She's in jail this morning accused of helping her husband, a former justice of the peace, exact murderous revenge against the prosecutors who helped convict him for stealing computers from the courthouse. I don't think anybody could have written a novel maybe that would have played out this story. Reporter: Shocked neighbors offer a completely different picture of the couple saying that kim williams was a pleasant neighbor but often in poor health. She had a big adult size tricycle and she'd ride that around the neighborhood some. Reporter: But police say those looks can be deceiving and that kim williams told them her husband was the shooter. Even describing in detail her role in the killings. It was a mysterious spree that began with the murder of assistant district attorney mark hasse in a courthouse parking lot and double murder of his boss district attorney mike McLELLAND AND HIS WIFE CYNTHIA. At the time eric williams expressed sympathy. My heart goes out to the families that have been affected by this tragedy. Reporter: Meanwhile, investigators say he and his wife were keeping this storage space where they allegedly hid dozens of weapons and the getaway car police say they used in the murders. OVERNIGHT the McLelland families met with authorities and then released a statement say they're happy an arrest has been made and saying we want to thank everyone for their continued support during this ordeal. This morning the couple is being held on a $13 million bond but that could double when police later officially charge eric williams with capital murder. Both of them, amy, could face the death penalty.
