Can An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Be Helpful To Me If I Am Experiencing Symptoms Of An Anxiety Disorder?

Question: Can an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) be helpful to me if I am experiencing symptoms of an anxiety disorder?

Barbara Rothbaum, Ph.D., Emory University

Answer: Employee Assistance Programs are very, very helpful in identifying a number of problems, including anxiety disorders. People there can help assess you, diagnose you, and refer you for treatment. They'll know the resources available at your institution or in your area and probably have relationships with professionals that they've worked with in the past who can help.
