Answer: Anxiety disorders can be associated with pregnancy and the postpartum period. In particular, generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder tend to be more frequent or worsen during pregnancy and the postpartum. Obsessive compulsive disorder has the highest incidence of first onset in the postpartum period. Panic disorder, which is another anxiety disorder, can actually get better, worse or stay the same during pregnancy.
