Is Medication, Therapy, Or Both More Effective In Treating My Bipolar Disorder?

Question: Is medication, therapy, or both more effective in treating my bipolar disorder?

Dr. Calabrese answers the question: 'Meds Or Therapy For Bipolar Disorder?'

Answer: There's a very good evidence base that would suggest that people do best when they get both medication and psychotherapy at the same time. So it's quite clear that people need both, but what we know is that they need both but that the medicines should frequently come first. And then once people are well enough to benefit and participate in therapy, then they need to get the therapy.
