Answer: There are no alternative medicine approaches to treating phantom limb pain that have been scientifically proven. So we're in an area where it's trial and error. It is certainly reasonable to use some approaches from alternative medicine, particularly acupuncture, and some herbal remedies -- on a trial basis -- to see if they will be of benefit. But going into it, it's very difficult to tell you with any certainty whether or not they'll be of benefit.
