Answer: In any individual, symptoms of depression can be very much alike from episode to episode. So the best thing to look for to protect yourself against a new depression is to remember the symptoms of the depressions that you've already had.

Depression, however, tends to have certain similar signs in everyone and these include a low mood, often irritability or agitation, some confusion in thinking, changes in sleep, loss of appetite, a decrease in your activity and your interest in things and a loss of enjoyment.
