How Can I Tell If I Am Relapsing Or Just Having A Down Day?

Question: How can I tell if I am relapsing or just having a down day?

Bruce Cohen, M.D., Ph.D., McLean Hospital

Answer: Down days usually occur because something unpleasant has happened and they tend to be typified by a bad mood -- but not necessarily a lot of other symptoms. Depressions also have bad mood, but tend to have other symptoms such as feeling agitated, feeling a lack of enjoyment in activities with friends or things that usually please you, changes in sleep, changes in appetite, changes in the ability to think clearly through problems that arise.
