Question: How effective is psychodynamic therapy for the treatment of depression in children/adolescents?

Answer: Well once again we have a treatment there that's been used for the better part of 75 years. And unfortunately, although there's a good deal of case support for it, is that it's case reports. There's very little in the way of controlled outcome research indicating that it is effective.

So it's once again not one of those treatments that would be empirically supported. There are other treatments that seem to be more effective right now.
