Aug. 24, 2009— -- Question: Can I still wear contact lenses if I have dry eye?

Answer: That's a great question. I have a really emphatic answer -- yes you can. Two ways that we work with this condition. First we try to treat the underlying dryness to prepare the eye to accept the contact lens. And second there really are a lot of good contact lenses available today that are specifically good for pts who have dry eyes.

Frequently, we go to a more disposable product that can be replaced even every day and they're available even in astigmatic and multifocal prescriptions. So if it's been a while since you've tried contact lenses and you thought it was due to dry eye I certainly would look into it again because your chances of success are actually quite high.
