Question: If I Smoke 1-2 Packs Of Cigarettes A Day, Should I Switch To 'Lite' Cigarettes In Order To Lower My Risk Of Developing Heart Disease?
Answer: Because much of coronary artery disease is preventable, and is particularly so when due to smoking, you should stop smoking altogether. There is no safe amount of smoking when it comes to developing heart disease. You should be honest with your physician, tell him what the problems are, tell him that you do smoke, ask for advice on how to smoke, how to stop smoking, because smoking increases the likelihood that you'll develop heart disease and also increases the seriousness of the kinds of heart disease that you'll develop. Lite cigarettes are not an answer.
