Is It Safe To Combine Pain Medicine With Sleeping Pills?

Question: Is It Safe To Combine Pain Medicine With Sleeping Pills?

Dr. Knox Todd answers the question: 'Pain Medicine, Sleeping Pills Together?'

Answer: In general, this is a bad idea. In the emergency department, we would never advise someone to mix the two.

However, each person with pain is unique and different, and there may be times when it's appropriate to use both sleeping aides and pain medicine. Again, this is an issue that you should ask your doctor about.
