When Deedee delivered her second baby, 4-year-old Lily was ready to help.
"Someone said something about cutting the cord, and she yelled out "I'll do it!"
And she did. Lily is now 19 and goes to the University of Memphis.
"It was wonderful," Deedee said of delivering at home. "They were all born into the place they were going to come home to."
Deedee said that if anything had gone wrong, the hospital was only two miles away and a car was ready to take her there. But delivering at home gave her a sense of safety and control that no hospital could have provided.
"If a woman feels like she could do it, it can be a very empowering experience."
