— -- Weddings are an important milestone in the lives of the bride and groom, but Jayme Hunsinger never thought someone else’s wedding would change her own life.

Hunsinger, 30, said she was always “the biggest, tallest kid” growing up.

“You know, I would just come home after school maybe not fitting in very well, would turn to that food,” the Hummelstown, Penn., resident told “Good Morning America.”

The mental health therapist had tried everything to lose weight, but she got a call in the fall of 2006 to be the maid of honor in her stepsister’s wedding. It was her aha moment.

“It gave me a set point to work at that I knew that I needed to regain that control of my life that I had let go,” she said.

At the time, she weighed 304 pounds.

Hunsinger’s aunt recommended that she try Weight Watchers, the popular weight-loss program. By the time of the wedding, in June 2007, Hunsinger had lost 80 pounds.

The compliments that followed motivated her to keep going. After the birth of her daughter, Anna, in 2010, her weight loss plateaued, but by January of 2013, she had recommitted to her goal and picked up running.

She has now lost a total of 160 pounds.

"I went from a size 24 and now I'm in a size 4 … half of me is gone,” she said.

Her husband, Neil Hunsinger, has been supportive of her journey.

“She exudes beauty, not that she wasn't before, but just the confidence; it's amazing,” Neil said.

Hunsinger is grateful to her husband.

“I don't think there are words. I mean it's just amazing to have that support and knowing that no matter what there's always someone that's going to be there for you,” she said.

Her husband is now pursuing his own weight-loss goals. He has lost 90 pounds so far.

When her daughter says “Mommy, I want to run like you,” Hunsinger says it melts her heart and makes her proud.
