Deadly Mudslide In Central Japan Caught On Video

It swallowed two houses and killed one boy.

— -- A mudslide that destroyed houses in Nagiso, Nagano Prefecture in central Japan, was caught on video by a security camera that had been installed nearby.

A 12-year-old boy was killed in the mudslide, officials said.

The mudslide rapidly went down the hill.

The mudslide was caused by torrential rain and happened at around 5:40 p.m. on July 9. It occurred at a tributary of the Kiso River in the central Japan town, swallowing two houses nearby.

The Jiji Press reported that the four residents of one of the houses -- a mother and her three sons -- were found buried and taken to a hospital.

The mudslide destroyed trees and two houses.

The mother and two of the sons were rescued without serious injuries but the other boy, who was believed to be the eldest son, was confirmed after suffering cardiopulmonary arrest, according to Jiji Press.
