— -- A judge ruled Wednesday that Seif Eldin Mustafa, the man accused of hijacking an EgyptAir plane carrying 72 people on board, will remain in Cyprus for the next 8 days as authorities continue their investigation.

Larnaca Police tell ABC News that police are still "investigating his intentions" and will eventually send him back to Egypt to be handed off to authorities there.

Mustafa appeared in court Wednesday, where authorities are asking that he be held on a number of unspecified charges, said police spokesman Andres Angelides.
