Louvre Artwork Moved Upstairs as Museum Closes for Flooding

— -- The iconic Louvre museum in Paris will close to the public Friday because of severe weather that has caused the Seine River to overflow its banks throughout the city.

The museum, home to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, said in a statement that artwork will be moved from areas where floodwaters could potentially threaten them to higher floors, where they will be safer.

Musée d'Orsay, also on the banks of the Seine, will close Friday as well, officials said on Twitter, as flood levels continue to rise throughout the French capital.
