U.S. Military Deaths in Operation Enduring Freedom
— -- The following are the U.S. personnel who have been killed in Operation Enduring Freedom:
• Staff Sgt. Christian Longsworth, 26, of Newark, N.J., died in Oruzgan province, Afghanistan, on May 19, from wounds sustained when his convoy came under enemy small arms fire.
• Lt. Col. Joseph J. Fenty, 41, of Florida; Chief Warrant Officer 3 Eric W. Totten, 34, of Texas; Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher B. Donaldson, 28, of Illinois; Staff Sgt. Christopher T. Howick, 34, of Hamburg, N.Y.; Sgt. Bryan A. Brewster, 24, of Fontana, Calif.; Sgt. John C. Griffith, 33, of Las Vegas; Sgt. Jeffery S. Wiekamp, 23, of Utopia, Texas; Spc. Justin L. O'Donohoe, 27, of San Diego; Spc. David N. Timmons Jr., 23, of Lewisville, N.C.; and Pfc. Brian M. Moquin Jr., 19, of Worcester, Mass.; died east of Abad, Afghanistan, in the Kunar province, on May 5, when their CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed during combat operations.
• Capt. Clayton L. Adamkavicius, 43, of Fairdale, Ky., died of injuries sustained in Abu Ghurayb, Afghanistan, on April 21, when he came under enemy small arms fire during combat operations.
• Sgt. 1st Class John T. Stone, 52, of Norwich, Vt., died March 28 in Lashkagar, Afghanistan as a result of enemy mortar and small arms attacks during combat operations.
• Staff Sgt. Christopher L. Robinson, 36, Brandon, Miss., died in Sangain District, Afghanistan on March 25, when his vehicle came under enemy small arms fire during combat operations.
• Staff Sgt. Joseph, R. Ray, 29, of Asheville, N.C.; Sgt. Kevin D. Akins, 29, of Burnsville, N.C.; Sgt. Anton J. Hiett, 25, of Mount Airy, N.C.; and Spc. Joshua L. Hill, 24, of Fairmount, Ind.; died west of Asadabad, Afghanistan, on March 12, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle.
• Lance Cpl. Nicholas R. Anderson, 21, of Sauk City, Wis., died March 13 in a non-hostile vehicle accident in Afghanistan.
• Master Sgt. Emigdio E. Elizarraras, 37, of Pico Rivera, Calif., died in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan on Feb. 28, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
• Marine 1st Lt. Brandon R. Dronet, 33, of Erath, La.; Sgt. James F. Fordyce, 22, of Newton Square, Pa.; Lance Cpl. Samuel W. Large Jr., 21, of Villa Rica, Ga.; Sgt. Donnie Leo F. Levens, 25, of Long Beach, Miss.; Cpl. Matthieu Marcellus, 31, of Gainesville, Fla.; Sgt. Jonathan E. McColley, 23, of Gettysburg, Pa.; Lance Cpl. Nicholas J. Sovie, 20, of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; and Capt. Bryan D. Willard, 33, of Hummelstown, Pa.; and airmen Sr Airman Alecia S. Good, 23, of Broadview Heights, Ohio.; and Staff Sgt. Luis M. Melendez Sanchez, 33, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; died Feb. 17 in a helicopter crash in northern Djibouti.
• Sgt. 1st Class Chad A. Gonsalves, 31, of Turlock, Calif.; Staff Sgt. Edwin H. Dazachacon, 38, of Belleville, Ill.; Staff Sgt. Clinton T. Newman, 26, of San Antonio; and Sgt. Alberto D. Montrond, 27, of Suffolk, Mass.; died north of Deh Rawod, Afghanistan, on Feb. 13, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle.
