L O N D O N , Aug. 28 -- They say fame is addictive and for ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, it means enduring physical pain to remain on top.

The papers are all in a frenzy over her new lip ring which she had put in just minutes before she was supposed to appear in a concert in Birmingham.

Posh Spice was going head-to-head with former bandmate Geri Halliwell a.k.a. Ginger Spice. But Beckham went on to perform her new single for the 35,000 crowd despite admitting the new fashion accessory "hurt like hell."

Out, Out, Damn Spots

The late Princess Diana's ex-butler, who is facing a $8 million lawsuit for theft against the former Princess of Wales, is in a Florida hospital after falling ill while on vacation, says The Daily Telegraph.

Paul Burrell is said to be suffering from anxiety and has developed a painful body rash because of the attention from the lawsuit.

Onlookers say the ex-servant was in a delirious state and struggling to walk when he was admitted to the hospital. His brother Graham Burrell says, "We've been worried sick for Paul. People have no idea what he is going through."

A Soldier Mourned

Ian Collins, 22, of Sheffield became the first casualty on Monday in a NATO operation in Macedonia.

This is why his father spoke out so adamantly in The Times today. Although his son had worked previously to eliminate land minds in Kosovo, Kevin Collins was critical of the mission to collect weapons from ethnic Albanian rebels in Macedonia under Operation Essential Harvest.

"I don't think our soldiers should be there. Kosovo was different. A lot of innocent people were getting hurt. This is a civil conflict with two factions fighting amongst themselves." He ended by saying he was "immensely proud" of his son.

Going Abroad For Treatment

The British government has given the go-ahead to let National Health Service (NHS) patients seek treatment overseas, reports the Daily Mail.

And since the final bill, including airfare and hotels, cost significantly less than going to a private insurer, more and more Brits are choosing this option rather than waiting up to two years for surgery.
