Detroit Couple Wins Free Pizza for a Year, Donates Vouchers to Youth Homeless Shelter

— -- One couple made some homeless youth in Detroit very happy.
When Hannah Spooner and her boyfriend Pete Kadry won free pizza for a year from Little Ceasars Pizza, instead of pigging out on pepperoni the two decided to donate the prize to a local homeless shelter.
After touring several philanthropic organizations, the 19-year-old Spooner settled on Covenant House Michigan in Detroit after discovering the youth homeless shelter online.
"She had decided on us because she knew it would go to the right place," Melissa Golpe, the organization's public relations and marketing director, told ABC News.
The center aims to help homeless youth, aged 18-24.
"We have a cafeteria here, so they're provided food, but pizza is like super exciting," Golpe, whose worked at Covenant House for 12 years, said.
Golpe added that thanks to Spooner and Kadry's donation of 52 pizza vouchers, they're planning a pizza party next month. Each voucher is worth one pizza and the group plans to spread out parties over time.
"They're just really excited," Golpe said of the youth at the shelter. "They love pizza and they love having it as a treat. They're also really grateful."
