Ginger Zee reflects on her 'best' math teacher
Zee caught up with her Honors Geometry teacher at Rockford High School.
— -- ABC News chief meteorologist Ginger Zee has always had a passion for math, but it wasn’t until she took Honors Geometry with teacher Bob Wells as a high school freshman that she realized how much fun learning could be.
“I don’t remember anything except for learning more in this classroom than I ever did anywhere else … and enjoying it more,” Zee told Wells when she made the trip back to Rockford High School in Rockford, Michigan.
Wells has been teaching for over 29 years. “There are so many that influenced my teaching,” he told ABC News. “One of the things I hope that my students come out with is more of a willingness to put themselves out there and not be afraid of failure.”
His energy level and passion for math will rival the youngest of teachers around. “If I ever get to the point where I can't do it 100 percent, I'm not going to do it anymore,” he said.
“You do something for not just me, but all students,” Zee, 36, said to Wells. She said she had a lot of teachers that we're important to her over the years but Wells “could have taken this to the world and taught something to people.”
