— -- From Charles Phoenix, the guy that brought us the delight that is the cherpumple, comes its Fourth of July version -- the cherbluble.

It's a three-layer cake, each with a cherry, blueberry and apple pie baked into it.

“The cherbluble replaces the autumnal pumpkin pie with a blueberry, the perfect patriotic compliment to the oh-so-Americana cherry and apple,” Phoenix wrote on his blog. “Although making one of these mouth-watering, awe-inducing sweet, tasty, treat sensations can be very intimidating ... YOU CAN DO IT!”

It might make things easier for yourself to buy store-bought pies, and then at that point you only have to make three batches of white cake, dye one red and one blue, then bake each three separately with the pies in the middle. Top with cream cheese frosting and you have a purely patriotic decadent dessert.
