Katie Godby, the bride’s sister, channeled Eminem’s “Real Slim Shady” in her toast to the newlyweds.
“For her bachelorette, we went to Nashville and did karaoke and did ‘Slim Shady’ together, so I knew that was the one to do for the wedding,” Godby, 27, told ABC News of the surprise speech.
It took Godby about two months to change the lyrics to fit the couple’s love story and practice until perfect for their April 22 nuptials in Alpharetta, Georgia.
“Years ago my sister sent a rap of someone rapping for their sister at the wedding and she said, ‘I can’t wait to do this at your wedding one day.’ And I said, ‘I can’t wait to do this at your wedding one day,’” the maid of honor recalled, beating her bridal sis to the punch.
Only Godby’s boyfriend and mom knew she had planned the rap, but it’s safe to say her sister was impressed.
“She bowed down to me,” said Godby. “They loved it. It was so much fun.”
How will her sister ever top it?
“I don’t know but she has to come up with something,” Godby said with a laugh.
