9 Sets of Twins, One Set of Triplets to Graduate New York High School
This school will have you seeing double and even triple.
— -- At one New York high school, graduation onlookers will be seeing double -- and even triple -- this year as 10 sets of multiples will be graduating in the class of 2015 on June 28.
"I didn't really know it was abnormal, because I've been around it," senior Amanda Schain told ABC affiliate WABC-TV in New York. "So I thought it was the normal thing, you normally have this many twins."
The nine sets of twins and one set of triplets, who will receive their diplomas from JFK High School in Plainview, are all set to attend different colleges from their siblings with the exception of two.
"We didn't want to go to the same school, we both just ended up liking the same school," triplet Sydney Kurnit said.
But besides being removed from their "better halves," the teens said they will also be sad to part with their other classmates whom they grew up with.
"I'm going to miss everyone, obviously, but I don't think I'm going to miss him that much," senior Andrew Miller said of his twin. "I just feel like I'm ready to be on my own, just try to be independent."
JFK's assistant principal told ABC News that this isn't the first time she's witnessed multiples graduating together in her 19 years as an educator.
"Last year there were 10 sets of twins and one sets of triplets," she said. "I think it's cute and it adds something for many of these kids for the end of the school year. I never get tired of it -- hearing about what it's like leaving their other half."
The multiples from the class of 2015 are graduating just in time to make room for seven sets of twins who will become seniors next year at the school, WABC-TV reported.
