March 14, 2005 -- -- A new ABC News/Washington Post poll finds President Bush's overall job approval rating at 50 percent, matching its pre-State of the Union level.

As he did two months ago, the president continues to encounter stiff headwinds on Social Security. Just 35 percent approve of the way he's handling Social Security (it was 38 percent on the eve of his second inaugural). And a majority of Americans, 58 percent, say that the more they hear about Bush's proposals on Social Security - the less they like them.

The full poll will be released at 5 p.m.

The interviews with 1,001 adults were conducted Thursday through Sunday, and the results have a three-point error margin. Note: the figures may add up to more than 100 percent because of rounding

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job as president?

Would you say that the more you hear about Bush's proposals on Social Security the more you like them, or the more you hear about Bush's proposals on Social Security the less you like them?
