— -- Conservative Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said Thursday he'd be able to work with Hillary Clinton behind closed doors.

"When you’re working outside of staff and outside of the press she is somebody I can work with," the congressman said in a speech at the Iowa State Fair, according to the Des Moines Register.

That said, King, who first supported Sen. Ted Cruz's bid for president, is wholeheartedly supporting the GOP ticket in November -- and was quite pleased with Donald Trump's selection of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his vice presidential pick.

The Iowa Republican considers Pence a personal friend, and the two men served together on the House Judiciary Committee before Pence became governor of Indiana.
