Larry Wilmore to Headline 2016 White House Correspondents' Dinner
The 90th annual WHCA dinner will be the last for President Obama.
— -- Comedian Larry Wilmore will headline the 2016 White House Correspondents' Association annual dinner, the group announced today.
Wilmore hosts "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore" on Comedy Central.
"Larry's edgy, even provocative, brand of humor means he's certainly up to the task of skewering politicians of all ideological stripes, and we don't expect the nation's news media to escape unscathed, either," said Carol Lee, White House correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and president of the association.
The dinner, scheduled for April 30, 2016, is attended each year by the president and first lady, members of the Cabinet, members of Congress, and Hollywood celebrities. The event raises money for scholarships aimed at supporting aspiring journalists; it also recognizes the work of leading journalists covering the White House.
The 90th annual correspondents' dinner will be President Obama's last while in office.
Previous hosts include Cecily Strong, Joel McHale, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Myers and Jay Leno.
