— -- The general election mudslinging was out in full force this weekend.

A super PAC supporting Donald Trump released a negative ad squarely aimed at Hillary Clinton, while her campaign unleashed its own attack on the presumptive Republican nominee.

That Clinton has yet to lock down the Democratic nomination doesn’t seem to bother either of them or many of their supporters as they look toward the general election.

The ad attacking Clinton, released by Rebuilding America Now, intersperses one of her news conferences about her email server with video of her husband’s infamous news conference about the Monica Lewinsky scandal in January 1998.

The campaign ad syncs their use of the phrase "I did not," first showing Bill Clinton's clip before cutting to Hillary Clinton's more recent news conference.

The 30-second spot ends with a graphic that reads: "Same Old Same Old Typical Politician."

Similarly, Clinton's team is attempting to use Trump's words against him.

"Trump's latest comments are so extreme... even other Republicans are offended," the text in the ad reads.

It then shows news clips featuring Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Paul Ryan, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Sen. Bob Corker and political commentator Anna Navarro criticizing Trump's condemnation of U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing a case involving Trump University.

Several hours after the ad was released, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who dropped out of the 2016 presidential campaign, became the latest Republican to call for Trump to apologize.
