— -- President Obama and the First Lady's adjusted gross income fell to $436,065 in 2015, down from $477,383 the year before, according to tax returns released by the White House today.
The returns show that Obama made $394,454 for being president, as well as about $56,000 derived from his book royalties. In 2014, Obama pulled in more than $80,000 from his book sales.
Overall, they paid $81,472 in taxes, at an effective rate of 18.7 percent.
The Obamas also donated around 15 percent of their income, or more than $64,000, to more than 30 charities. Their largest donation, $9,066, went to the Fisher House Foundation, known for providing lodging to families of service members receiving treatment at military hospitals. The second largest donation, $5,000, went to the Beau Biden Foundation.
