The Wild Scene Outside the Donald Trump, Paul Ryan Meeting on Capitol Hill
It was not your typical Thursday on Capitol Hill.
— -- It was not your typical Thursday on Capitol Hill.
Donald Trump came to town for official meetings with GOP leaders and the presumptive Republican nominee attracted a wild mixture of protesters, reporters and curious onlookers who gathered around Republican National Committee headquarters as Trump met with House Speaker Paul Ryan and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
The media swarm was enormous.
The demonstrators, meanwhile, displayed creativity, toting everything from papier-mâché Trump heads to coffins with the symbol of the GOP: An elephant.
Johnny Rice, a former Rand Paul supporter, brought a shofar, a religious item, "to bring blessings.” He competed with protesters that were with the anti-war group Code Pink.
Protesters from the organization United We Dream, the largest network of immigrant youth in the country, brought the coffin and were chanting "we are the mighty immigrants, fighting for justice."
In the midst of chaos, one man showed up with a different goal in mind, to play the bagpipes while calling for bipartisanship.
