The Ticos' victory eliminated England.

Also today, France defeated Switzerland 5-2 to remain in first place in Group E. Ecuador edged Honduras 2-1.

The World Cup features 32 nations -- placed in eight groups with four teams apiece -- and a total of 64 games. The United States has qualified for its seventh straight World Cup and will be looking to get out of a challenging group that features Germany, Portugal and Ghana. The Americans play Portugal on Sunday night.
