— -- Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner is facing a one-year suspension from the NFL for violating its substance-abuse policy, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Browner, who has already had his appeal hearing on the matter, missed the final four games of last season for violating the league's PED policy.

It was reported Sunday by ESPN sources and an NFL.com report that Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond III is facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Thurmond is expected to drop an appeal of his suspension in order to return for the playoffs.

Browner is currently recovering from a groin injury and was not expected to be available until mid-December, coach Pete Carroll said last week.
