Chase Daniel agrees to multiyear deal with Eagles
— -- Quarterback Chase Daniel will reunite with Doug Pederson in Philadelphia after agreeing in principle on a multiyear deal, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Adam Caplan.
Pederson, the Eagles' new head coach, had been Daniel's offensive coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Daniel will back up starting quarterback Sam Bradford in Philadelphia. It is unclear what his addition means for the future of Mark Sanchez in Philadelphia.
The Chiefs thought enough of Daniel in 2013 to sign him to a pricy three-year, $10 million contract to be their primary backup to Alex Smith. Daniel, 29, made two starts for the Chiefs, the only ones of his NFL career. The Chiefs went 1-1 in those games, the loss coming in overtime. The Chiefs would have won that game had they not missed a field goal late in the fourth quarter. He was 43-of-68 for 409 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
Before joining the Chiefs, Daniel was Drew Brees' backup for three seasons with the Saints. In New Orleans, he threw just nine passes.
