— -- Dallas at Colorado 10:00 pm EDT Western Conference quarterfinals Avalanche lead, 3-0 DENVER (Ticker) - One win by Colorado has turned into an Avalanche and it is the Dallas Stars who are in danger of getting snowed under. The seventh-seeded Avalanche go for a stunning sweep of the second-seeded Stars on Friday when the teams meet in Game Four of their quarterfinal series. The Pacific Division champion Stars were expected to have little problem with the Avalanche, who have been inconsistent this season and have suffered numerous injuries over the last several months. But the situation could not have been further from the truth as Dallas lost a 5-2 decision in Game One and since has dropped a pair of overtime games to move to the brink of stunning elimination. The most crippling loss for the Stars came in Wednesday's Game Three, when the team held a 3-2 lead with less than a minute remaining in regulation until Andrew Brunette tied it with a dramatic power-play goal. The Avalanche netted the game-winner just 69 seconds into the extra session, when Alex Tanguay's centering pass went off the skate of Dallas defenseman Willie Mitchell and past goaltender Marty Turco. Tanguay added a goal and an assist in regulation and captain Joe Sakic did likewise for Colorado, which also eliminated Dallas in the quarterfinals of the 2004 playoffs. Turco made 25 saves but still lost for the eighth time in his last nine playoff decisions. Stu Barnes and defensemen Sergei Zubov and Jon Klemm scored for the Stars, who hope to survive until Sunday, when they would host Game Five.
