— -- Five-time major champion Phil Mickelson and legendary swing coach Butch Harmon have parted ways.

"I've learned a great deal from him in our eight years together," Mickelson said in a statement released to media. "It's just that at the moment I need to hear new ideas from a different perspective."

Golf Digest reported, citing sources, that Mickelson has settled on Andrew Getson to be his new swing coach. The 41-year-old Getson is out of Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Mickelson's last major victory came at the 2013 Open at Muirfield, and his most recent win on U.S. soil was at the 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open earlier that year.

At TPC Scottsdale, Lefty shot an opening-round 60 that was nearly a 59, but his putt on his final hole lipped out.

Mickelson has, by his standards, gone through a rough patch in the past two years. His $2.15 million earned in 2015 is his lowest since 2003.

He is ranked 25th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Harmon said he "thoroughly enjoyed working with Phil, and we've had great success together."

"Helping him win the Open Championship in 2013 was one of the pinnacles of my career," Harmon said through Mickelson's representatives in the statement, which was initially released to Golf.com. "I see nothing wrong with him seeking advice from another source. We're great friends and always will be."

Mickelson added, "Butch is one of the great teachers in the history of the game, and I believe he deserves to be in the World Golf Hall of Fame."
