— -- The University of Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles men's basketball teams were tied Tuesday, with three seconds remaining in regulation.

Just enough time for a final shot.

Florida State inbounded the ball to guard Devon Bookert. Bookert gathered himself and fired, but his fadeaway jumper was short.

Florida Gators forward Jacob Kurtz, a walk-on player, was there.

Kurtz jumped for the ball. The ball glanced off his hands and into the basket – two points for Florida State, for a 65-63 FSU win.

Seminoles players rushed onto the court following the victory, while Kurtz bowed his head, pulling his jersey over his face, anguished following his decisive tip-in.

Following the game, Kurtz’s coach and teammates offered support.

“Coach made that comment in the locker room that we wouldn’t have even had the chance to win the game had he not played so well tonight,” guard Michael Frazier II said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “That one play did not dictate the game at all.”
