Some New iPhones Already Sold Out Before Arriving in Stores
New iPhone 7 Pluses and jet black iPhone 7s unavailable for walk-in customers.
— -- Want a new iPhone 7 Plus but didn't order online? How about a jet black iPhone 7?
Tough luck.
They're all sold out and won't be available when the new generation of iPhones go on sale tomorrow in stores.
Apple confirmed the news in an email to journalists this morning, noting, however, that the silver, gold, rose gold, and a non-jet black version of iPhone 7 will be available at its stores across the country.
"We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible," an Apple spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
The latest generation of the iPhone was announced last week in an event in San Francisco. This generation of phones is the first to include a models with the glossy jet black finish.
For customers who are hell-bent on one of the sold-out models, they can still order them on Apple's website and will receive them when units are available.
Jet black iPhone 7s list a ship date of "3-5 weeks" on Apple's website at the present moment, while many of the iPhone 7 models list a ship date of "2-3 weeks".
The company is not releasing pre-order sales figures with this generation of the iPhone as it has done in the past, a company spokesman confirmed to ABC News.
The tech company suggested that the "initial response" by customers online to the new iPhones was strong, but did not provide details on why some models won't initially be available in stores.
