TED Talks: JR, French Street Artist and 2011 TED Prize Winner, on Using Art to Turn the World Inside Out

Get a deeper look into the work of the TED conference and its speakers.

July 20, 2011— -- TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to "ideas worth spreading." At TED, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks then are made available, free, at TED.com.

Starting in March, ABC News began taking deeper look into the remarkable work of TED speakers and featuring their related TEDTalks on ABCNews.com. ABC News has been featuring several of the first talks to be released from TED2011, including a speech given by French artist JR, the 2011 TED Prize winner.

The TED Prize is awarded each year to an exceptional individual. The prize grants a "Wish to Change the World" using $100,000 and the resources of the TED community. JR wished to turn the world inside out by sparking the largest participatory art project in history.

JR's "Inside Out Project" is taking off, with people pasting their images on walls from Brooklyn to Berlin to Tunisia. At TED Global, JR launched a web series and an "Inside Out" YouTube site, where people can show how they are participating in his TED Prize wish. To visit the YouTube site click here.
