TechBytes: Samsung vs. Apple

Dec. 5, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes, Samsung has won the latest round in its ongoing patent battle with Apple.

A federal court says Samsung can sell several of its smartphones and tablets in the U.S, despite Apple's claim they resemble its devices too closely.

The two companies have filed at least 30 suits against each other on four continents this year alone.

Facebook Growth

Facebook says it plans to hire thousands of employees over the next year to keep pace with what is expected to be rapid growth.

Most of its 3,000 workers now are in Silicon Valley or Seattle, but it's now looking for engineers in New York.

Facebook is expected to sell shares to the public for the first time next year.

Passing Time Online

A new study confirms that many of us go online for no particular reason at all.

Pew researchers found that more than half of young adults go online each day just to pass the time or have fun.

As you might expect, the percentages are smaller for older age groups.
