— -- Zynga has officially launched Draw Something 2, the followup to its highly-successful Pictionary-like mobile app Draw Something, which was released last year.

Unveiled during the company's earnings call Wednesday, the latest version of the popular game brings new ways to play, a number of new drawing tools, as well as patterns and textures that can be incorporated into drawings.

In addition to drawing features, the game includes a live social feed where players can follow friends, celebrities or artists. Users can also like and comment on pictures that aren't part of the game in which they're specifically involved.

"Draw Something 2 is a new kind of experience that blurs the line between games and social apps, yet it builds on the magic that made the original one of the most popular mobile game franchises in the world," Travis Boatman, Zynga's senior vice-president of mobile, said in a statement.

"Draw Something 2 gives people a creative way to connect with friends by drawing, sharing and checking out the feed. We couldn't be more proud of the New York mobile team that crafted the game."

In development for some time, Ryan Seacrest tweeted about trying out Draw Something 2 in mid-March.

Draw Something was originally created by mobile-gaming startup OMGPOP. Exceptionally popular, the game reached 50 million downloads during its first seven weeks in Apple's App Store. Zynga then acquired the game and its team for a reported $180 million.

Dan Porter, OMGPOP's founder, joined Zynga after the acquisition as vice-president and general manager of Zynga's New York operations. He left the company earlier this month, a year after the acquisition.
