Oct. 12, 2008— -- Kim Chan, 94 -- Actor. Best known for his role in Martin Scorsese's "King of Comedy," and also starred in "Lethal Weapon 4."

George E. Palade, 95 -- Nobel Prize-winning biologist. His research on the inner workings of cells gave birth to the modern field of cellular biology.

Nadia Nerina, 80 -- Ballerina who stared with the Royal Ballet.

Jörg Haider, 58 -- Austrian politician. A controversial populist, he praised Nazi policies and transformed Austrian politics.

THIS WEEK, THE PENTAGON RELEASED THE NAMES OF FIVE SOLDIERS AND MARINES KILLED IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.
