SLS Las Vegas marks first new casino and entertainment complex in years.
Aug. 22, 2014— -- A former Rat Pack hangout will be reborn this evening, when the SLS Las Vegas debuts at midnight. It also marks the city's first major casino launch in years.
"The opening of SLS Las Vegas is a major milestone, not only for the expansion of the SLS Hotels brand, but for the future of Las Vegas," said Sam Nazarian, founder, chairman and CEO of sbe, which owns the resort. "We're very excited to welcome guests to experience the property and the incredible concepts we've built."

After undergoing a massive transformation, the once-Moroccan-themed destination will now feature modernist Phillipe Starck-designed towers, as well as a series of rooms curated by rocker Lenny Kravitz.
James Beard award-winning chef Jose Andres operates as the property's culinary director and he has assembled a who's who list of cult California restaurants to populate the resort, with offerings that range from Umami Burger to Cleo to Katsuya by Starck to 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria as well as reinvented Andres concepts, such as Bazaar Meat--a protein-focused version of the chef's LA-based hot spot.
The resort will also feature three entertainment venues, including The Sayers Club, LiFE, and Foxtail--all clubs which will host various musical performances. The first will take place at tonight's debut, when Iggy Azalea takes the stage under a canopy of fireworks.
