"The only thing I can say is the witnesses stated the crack was open in the room," Gragg said. He declined to go into further detail about how the baby came into contact with the drugs.

On Saturday, the teenager took her son to Piedmont Newnan Hospital. At 5 p.m., a hospital employee notified police that a child who had ingested drugs was in their care.

The unidentified boy was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where he tested positive for cocaine.

Authorities are awaiting toxicology results to determine the amount of cocaine the boy ingested, Gragg said.

The boy's mother is considered a witness and not a suspect, and continues to care for her son, Gragg said.

A search warrant was carried out on the family's home Saturday evening.

Gragg said police collected evidence but declined to say what was found in the home.

Neighbors told Palmetto police that Daniel and Martin have not been seen in the area since Saturday night.
