— -- Attention East Coasters: it's time to brace yourselves for snow.

Boston, New York and Washington, D.C., are anticipating the biggest snowfall of the season at the end of this week, so be mindful when making weekend plans.

In D.C., the snow is expected to begin early afternoon Friday and last through Saturday morning.

In New York City, snowfall is expected to begin Friday around 8 p.m. and end Saturday around noon.

And in Boston, the snow may start Friday night and end Saturday afternoon.

While it's too early to determine specific totals, the heaviest snowfall is expected in towns west of D.C., where 1 to 2 feet is possible.

It's still too soon to determine how much snow may fall this weekend, meteorologist Richard Bann of the National Weather Service told ABC News. Air temperature and ocean winds are just two factors that could sway forecasts.

The storm still has a long way to go before it "gets its act together," said Bann.
