— -- The Australian koala duo, Phantom and Lizzy, — who took the Internet by storm last week — are getting healthier and stronger every day at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, according to their Facebook page.
Phantom and Lizzy have switched places, with Lizzy now cuddling her 6-month-old joey after successfully making it through surgery to fix her face trauma and a collapsed lung, according to the zoo.
Lizzy was hit by a car last week in Brisbane, Australia and the photos of Phantom refusing to leave her side went viral. The little joey sat on Lizzy’s back — arms stretched wide — cuddling his injured mother.
The Australia Zoo did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
