  • Pleasure Beach was a beach community that was slowly abandoned when the bridge to it burned and the town of Bridgeport Conn. decided not to rebuild it. Residents could only access their homes by boat or via a half mile hike along a sandbar. The homes were eventually completely demolished in 2011.
