Aug. 8, 2013 — -- The $448 million Powerball jackpot will be split by three winners, two of which were in New Jersey and one in Minnesota, according to lottery officials.

The winning numbers in Wednesday's drawing were 58-5-25-59-30 and powerball 32.

"Now the fun starts. Everybody will look at their tickets and see if it's them," Sue Dooley with the Multi-state Lottery Association said.

Winning tickets in New Jersey were sold at the Super Stop 'n Shop in South Brunswick, N.J., and Acme Markets in Little Egg Harbor, N.J. It is unclear where the winning ticket in Minnesota was sold.

Three tickets winning Match 5 were sold, in Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas, according to the Powerball website.

In total there were 4,051,009 winners in Wednesday's drawing, according to the Powerball website. Non-Jackpot winning totaled $66,895,831.

The jackpot earlier stood at $425 million, but grew and was announced at the higher number before the drawing.

The estimated jackpot now stands at $40 million for the next drawing, on Saturday. It is played in 43 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Split that three ways, the person or people holding each of Wednesday's tickets could walk away with nearly $150 million each, before taxes.

The multi-state lottery's most recent blockbuster winner, 84-year-old Gloria C. Mackenzie of Zephyrhills, Fla., took home a whopping $590.5 million jackpot in a May drawing thanks to computer-generated numbers. She opted for the lump-sum cash payout, which reduced her winnings to just under $371 million, according to powerball.com.

Lottery officials admit to cashing in on the frenzy.

In the case of Powerball, ticket prices doubled from $1 to $2 at the beginning of last year, also doubling the amount going into the jackpot.

Because the pots get so large so quickly, some people now won't even bat an eye until the prize reaches triple-digit millions.

In fact, chances are you've never heard of Patricia Chandler -- even though she won the Powerball in June. Chandler barely made news because she only walked away with $77 million out of a $131.5 million jackpot.
