Sea Lion Shocks San Diego Sailor by Snoozing on Boat
See what the animal did that had the man in shock.
— -- Cellphone video posted to Youtube shows a sailor in San Diego chasing off a waddling sea lion he found asleep on his boat.
Michael Duffy told ABC affiliate KGTV he woke up at 6 a.m. Sunday and was shocked to see the sea lion, which he says was just a pup, sleeping just feet away from him.
“I used to have a dog, and he looked like a little dog just curled up on the bench, the bunk there,” Duffy told KGTV.
Duffy, a sailor at the San Diego Yacht Club, can be heard in the video trying his best to woo the wobbling animal off his boat. At one minute and 20 seconds in, the sea lion finally takes the plunge back into the water.
“He wasn’t shocked, he wasn’t surprised,” Duffy said. “Every once and a while he looked back and he didn’t look like he wanted to leave.”
Duffy thinks the sea lion pup may be have been a SeaWorld rescue because of an orange tag he spotted on its flipper.
SeaWorld did not immediately return an ABC News request for comment.
