quicklist: 2title: New Japan Island Spawned by Volcanic Eruptiontext: A new island has surfaced off the coast of Japan, the apparent result of volcanic activity. Whoa.

Experts aren't sure when the island was created because it popped up in an uninhabited area, near the island of Nishinoshima in the Sea of Japan, but smoke was seen in the area Wednesday.

The new island is 666 feet in diameter, but Japanese officials are waiting to see if the island becomes permanent before they name it.

The island is located in what's called the "Ring of Fire," a hotbed of some 400 volcanoes spanning 25,000 miles in the Pacific Ocean.

Imagine if an eruption of anger was that productive.

quicklist: 3title: Hugh Jackman Reveals He Had Skin Cancertext: Wolverine and People's 2008 Sexiest Man Alive Hugh Jackman (Social Climber is pretty sure that's his official title) revealed a health scare in Instagram Thursday.

He posted a photo of himself with a bandaged nose with the caption, "Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right!" the actor posted. "I had a [basal] cell carcinoma. Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!"

Jackman, 45, was referring to his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, who urged him to go to the doctor.

Basal-cell carcinoma is the most common kind of cancer and can cause significant destruction and disfigurement.

Thank goodness the "X-Men" star listened to his wife.

And then tweens and the Internet freaked out.

The duo was photographed Wednesday night in Styles' Range Rover after leaving a restaurant in West Hollywood, Calif., together.

Could this maybe-couple be the new king and queen of young Hollywood? We hear the subjects of that kingdom have been lost since the Justin and Selena broke up.
